The Autumn-Winter 2022-2023 collection of Lorpen – the outdoor technical socks business of the Spanish Ternua Group – exploits the performance properties of a number of new sustainable fibres.

These include MerinoDry ECO yarn, which combines the benefits of superfine merino wool with 100% recycled polyester for moisture management, quick drying and enhanced resistance. The collection also features RecoverWool yarn, made from recycled post-industrial wool and recycled polyester, a combination that creates an advantageous balance between thermoregulation and sweat management.

In synthetic fibres, the brand has opted for Primaloft Eco, a soft, thermally insulating, hydrophobic fibre that expels and does not absorb moisture, made from 70% recycled resources. Lorpen has also replaced traditional Coolmax with Coolmax EcoMade, which provides the same long-lasting freshness but is produced with 97% recycled materials. Both Primaloft Eco and Coolmax EcoMade are employed in Morpen’s T3 outdoor and mountaineering range.

Lorpen has created two of its own yarns based on Unifi Repreve  for its T2 models – ECOTherm, composed of 100% recycled polyester from plastic bottles with a hollow core, whose main property is to retain body heat inside and expel moisture out of the skin due to its hydrophobic quality, and ECOFresh, composed of 50% Sorbtek polyester and 50% Repreve polyester, that is said to wick moisture away from the skin three times faster than competing brands as a result of its Catch-Move-Release technology.

Lorpen designs and manufactures all of its socks in Etxalar, Navarra, Spain.
