Argar's event entitled - ONE, Fabrics with Innovation and Sustainability at the Core - will be held on 16 May at 10.30am in the Kontrast Room, Hall 3, East Side.

Argar, a leading specialist in research and development of protective knitted fabrics based in Magnago, Italy, is hosting a special event in collaboration with ALSCO Italia, CBF Balducci, and Sinterama at this year’s Techtextil, which takes place in Frankfurt next week.

The meeting will provide hands-on experience about technical and sustainable features of the ONE product line of fabrics. The attendants will learn about the sustainability strategies of Argar and its partners.

“The textiles industry faces a great challenge: to create products for an increasingly demanding market while respecting the environment and caring of natural resources. The ONE line of fabrics was born from a search for materials with a lower environmental impact and better performance. A task achieved in collaboration with suppliers and customers, because sustainability is a shared challenge,” commented Umberto Negri, Chairman, Argar.

With Marco Ricchetti, Sustainability-lab, as a Chair, the event will host speakers including Argar’s Export Manager Gianluca Clementi and R&D Mattia Zaffaroni, as well as Ruggero Sammarco, Workwear and PPE Product Manager, ALSCO Italia; Michele Rossi, General Manager Export, CBF Balducci, and Massimo Piglia Head of Sales, Sinterama.

The ONE fabrics line

The global demand for textile products is steadily increasing, a trend likely to continue due population growth and economic development. Meanwhile, the textiles industry is facing tremendous environmental and resource challenges. Sixty-three percent of textile fibres are derived from petrochemicals, whose production and fate give rise to considerable carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The remaining 37% is dominated by cotton (24%), a plant associated with toxic pollution, due to intensive use of pesticides.

The products of ONE line are produced with recycled PET and organic cotton and GRS and GOTS certified and therefore respond to the criteria of environmental sustainability, toxicity and to the minimum social criteria of ILO (International Labour Organisation), the company reports.

The GOTS certification attests the utilisation of organic cotton that compared to a standard cotton is cultivated without chemical fertilisers and harmful pesticides utilisation, with processes that advance biodiversity, organic cycles, and soil health.

The polyester is 100% recycled and allows for a 60% saving on energy resources and a 31% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, compared to a non-recycled one. The scraps used to produce the recycled polyester are all from the surrounding area in which the company operates, preventing unnecessary emissions due to the transport of raw materials.  “We are fully aware of our social and environmental responsibilities. Our concrete commitment to sustainability led to the development of the ONE fabrics line,” added Mr Negri.

Made in Italy quality

Argar Technology was founded upon the concept of creating a completely localised manufacturing system embracing efficiency and the highest level of quality control against a competitive backdrop of low-tech and low-quality imports. In other words, the company set out to make high quality innovative products which carried the Made in Italy name.
