The Scaling Programme of Fashion for Good now consists of nine innovative participants who are ready to revolutionize the industry: ColorZen, The Infinited Fiber Company, Softwear Automation Inc, Tamicare, Worn Again, moral fiber (formerly Ambercycle), bext360 and Tyton Biosciences.

Spinnova has developed a disruptive cellulose fibre innovation that involves no dissolving or other complex chemical processes. This fibre has a uniquely small footprint and presents exciting opportunities to create a circular fibre production system.

Based in Finland, Spinnova is poised to reach industrial scale by year-end through its new pilot factory. Future business models include partnering with brands by licensing the technology or setting up joint ventures for fibre production.

“We have a fantastic relationship with Fashion for Good and are very much looking forward to the programme. Working with brands and developing the fibre to suit specific applications is the way we have strategically chosen to commercialise our innovation,” said Janne Poranen, CEO of Spinnova.

As a Scaling Programme participant, Spinnova gains access to Fashion for Good’s network of corporate partners, business advisors and industry experts, enabling it to accelerate the development and adoption of its revolutionary fibre.

Fashion for Good is a global platform for innovation, made possible through collaboration and community. At the core of Fashion for Good is its innovation platform. Through its Fashion for Good-Plug and Play Accelerator, it gives promising start-up innovators the expertise and access to funding they need in order to grow. Its Scaling Programme supports innovations that have passed the proof of concept phase, with a dedicated team that offers bespoke support and access to expertise, customers and capital.

Both the Accelerator and Scaling programmes have in total supported more than 40 start-ups to date. The third element of the innovation platform is the Good Fashion Fund, that will catalyse access to finance to shift at scale to more sustainable production methods.

The international organisation – founded by C&A Foundation in March 2017 – now has eight corporate partners, organised over 360 one-on-one introductory sessions between innovators and corporate brands, unlocked significant investments for start-ups, and has seen multiple production pilots come to life.
