Arville, a UK based leading technical textiles specialist, has shared some positive outlook on the future of the UK technical textiles industry this week, commenting on the potential for future growth in the innovative sector.
According to Andy Smith, Group Head of Marketing at Arville, the trend to drive out costs through light-weighting presents an opportunity for further expansion as engineered textiles are used more in substitute of other heavier materials. Russia aims to attract foreign investment
Another market that is expecting to see more growth in the near future is the Russian technical textiles and nonwovens sector, which is set to attract more foreign investment by becoming a focus of the Russian government’s growth strategy.
As part of this strategy, the government plans to design a package of measures, the implementation of which should stimulate foreign investment. These measures are expected to be officially presented on 16 June, during the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, one of Europe’s most important events in the field of business and investment.

Coats acquires high performance fibres producer
Meanwhile, in Europe, a number of the industry’s leading players have reported progress on their expansion programmes. A UK based industrial thread manufacturer Coats has acquired Gotex, a Spanish company which designs and manufactures high performance fibres, yarns and tapes used in the telecommunications, energy and oil and gas sectors. This is the first acquisition for Coats’ Speciality business that is fully aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
According to Coats, Gotex’s fibreglass coating technology and products will complement the company’s existing coated aramid product range. Since there is much synergy between the product offerings, the companies aim to provide an enhanced range of products to the fibre optics cable industry. NTPT appoints US distributor to support its expansion strategy
Staying in Europe – North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT), a leader in lightweight prepreg materials, has appointed Technology Marketing (TMI) as its distributor for the USA, to support its growth strategy.
The distribution agreement covers the company’s complete range of prepreg materials and engineered composite products. According to the company, the experience and technical expertise of TMI's team will support the continued expansion of NTPT's US business. Sicomin extends its global sales reach
Another European company, Sicomin, a leading formulator and supplier of technically superior, high strength epoxy solutions, has appointed two new distributors in order to support the company’s growing global distribution network.
Modest Marketing LLC, a chemical raw material supplier, UAE, and Tila Co, a strategic partner for composite materials and derivatives, Turkey, will be both supplying their respective customers with Sicomin’s extensive range of pre-formulated and custom made epoxy systems. These include Sicomin’s industry accredited range of Fire Retardant products and Greenpoxy advanced bio-resin. New video on Italian sustainable technology
ACIMIT, the Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers, has also taken the opportunity to promote Italian textile machinery makers by releasing a new video that aims to highlight the ongoing commitment of Italy’s manufacturers to sustainable technologies.
