Curt G. Joa Europe, a leader in engineering specialty machines for the disposable market, has integrated with Bikoma GmbH Spezialmaschinen, a developer and designer of special machines for the hygiene industry, relocating from Hamburg to Mayen, Germany.

The integration of Joa Europe with Bikoma creates one centralized European location for Curt G. Joa, the parent company of both brands.

European presence

According to the company, the move further strengthens Curt G. Joa’s European presence by combining the Joa Europe sales staff with the strong infrastructure already established at the Mayen location.

“By integrating Joa Europe with Bikoma, we can utilize all of our European resources from one location,” said Joa Executive Vice President Mike Brookins. “Our Mayen location already offers so many assets, such as engineering and manufacturing, that it will be more beneficial to use it as our European headquarters.”

Flexibility and technical support

In Mayen, Bikoma’s facilities include 5700 m² of space dedicated to engineering, testing, assembly, sales and research and development. This includes a new testing and assembly bay, as well as sales offices built in 2013.

“This combination of resources gives customers more flexibility for parts and technical support across broader Europe,” explained Curt G. Joa, Inc. President Gene Kiela II. “This step is consistent with our efforts to operate as one global company with two brands, Joa and Bikoma.”

Bikoma, a top manufacturer, developer and designer of special machines for the hygiene industry, focuses on constantly improving the technology and quality of its products. To date, Bikoma has supplied more than 1,800 machines worldwide.

Joa Europe

Established in 2003, Joa Europe was originally based out of Andernach, Germany. It has operated from its Hamburg location since 2011. The parent company Curt G. Joa, Inc. was established in 1932, and its headquarters remain located in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, US, with engineering and technical services also located in Chennai, India.

Joa, a leader of custom and premium machinery to produce disposable products, utilizes its own independently developed and patented technologies in its machinery. The company was awarded for its inventiveness by the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame.
