With its Oerlikon Barmag and Oerlikon Neumag brands, Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment is exhibiting at the ITMA textile machinery trade fair that is taking place in Milan this week. The company presents its WINGS technology, which is now available as retrofit solution, to the international audience at the exhibition.

The WINGS concept has been state-of-the-art in the area of yarn drawing and take-up for years, the company reports. Now it has also become available to operators of older POY systems with SW, CW and ACW winders.

With a new series, market leader Oerlikon is now expanding into the market for upgrades and modernisations to answer the high demand for WINGS retrofit solutions, the company reports.

New series of winders

The new series of winders is called WINGS POY XS. Due to its extremely compact design, it can be used for virtually any building concept. This stand-alone solution is said to offer the usual benefits of a WINGS winder and is available for polyester as well as polyamide.

The series currently includes five models with 8 to 12 thread and chuck lengths of 1,200 to 1,800 mm. Despite its compact design, WINGS XS produces packages with a volume of up to 23.2 dm³. At the ITMA Milan, the eightfold winder version from the WINGS POY XS series with a stroke length of 170 mm will be exhibited.

Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment

Oerlikon is a leading technology group supplying growth markets with market-leading technologies and services for surface solutions, systems for manufacturing manmade fibres, transmission systems and drive solutions, as well as prevacuum and high vacuum technologies and pumps and the corresponding accessories.

With its Oerlikon Barmag and Oerlikon Neumag brands, Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment is the market leader for manmade fibre filament spinning systems, texturing machines, BCF systems, staple fibre systems and artificial turf systems and – as a service provider – offers engineering solutions for the entire textile value added chain.

With the expansion of the product range to include polycondensation systems and their key components, the company now caters to the entire process – from the monomer all the way through to the textured yarn. The primary Oerlikon Barmag markets are in Asia, and – for Oerlikon Neumag – in the USA, Turkey and China.
