Bulwark’s FR fabric named as one of the top 100 high-technology products

The game-changing chemistry used in the product enables polyester to enter the protective apparel fold unlike ever before.

The awards, presented annually by R&D Magazine, recognise the 100 most technologically significant innovations from across the United States.

The Amplitude G2 Fabric was developed in partnership with Milliken & Company, which is used in Bulwark’s new iQ Series.

Biggest innovation

 Embracing polyester

The game-changing chemistry (Dual Elemental Protection), according to the manufacturer, enables polyester to enter the protective apparel fold unlike ever before. For decades, there has been an aversion to polyester within the FR industry, given its melting point, the company reports.

“iQ Series chemistry protects poly from melting based on the chemistry we developed. This allows the FR industry to finally embrace polyester and all of its performance characteristics, without compromising wearer safety,” said Milliken’s Development Manager Travis Greer.

Cooperation

Bulwark is the North American market leader in durable flame-resistant protective garments.  The brand offers the widest assortment of NFPA 2112 and NFPA 70E compliant flame-resistant shirts, pants, jeans, coveralls and outerwear in the industry.

The iQ Series marks the latest chapter in a 25-year partnership between Milliken, an innovation leader across a range of industries including specialty textiles and protective fabrics, and Bulwark’s parent company, VF Corporation, a leader in branded lifestyle apparel. The companies have worked together on product innovations throughout VF’s Imagewear Coalition.
