The main objectives of this workshop are to provide fundamental information, as well as presenting the state-of-the-art in textile roof engineering. Above all, the workshop aims to provide practical answers to real-world questions.

Among others, the following subjects will be addressed:

• Introducing lightweight structures
• Computational and physical modelling
• The design of tensile architecture
• Recent developments in composites
• Variety of membrane structures
• Facades with membranes

Textile Roofs 2017 is scientifically organised by Ms. Prof. Rosemarie Wagner (KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) and is an event of AcaMem (Berlin Academy of Architectural Membrane Structures) operated by academus GmbH as promoter for educational events in the field of Membrane Architecture.

In addition to the well-known format of Textile Roofs, this year a Membrane City Tour is offered on 14 May, visiting different impressive architectural membrane structures in the city of Berlin.
