McLaren opens at the UK’s AMRC

The £50 million McLaren Automotive Composites Technology Centre was opened by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Crown Prince of Bahrain.

After completing prototyping, the facility, at the heart of University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), will build McLaren’s lightweight carbon fibre chassis for its new road models from 2020, creating more than 200 jobs and providing an estimated £100 million of GVA (gross value added) benefit to the local economy by 2028.
