SAMPE Europe (Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering) will hold its Executive Summit at the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel Hotel, just beside the Eiffel Tower, on 13 March, the day before the JEC World Paris opens its doors.

The programme of the Summit consists of a range of 12 high-level lectures by invited speakers only. Topics are composite related innovations in automotive and aerospace, including advanced materials and process engineering, as well as applications in other markets.

A long-term partnership between SAMPE Europe and JEC Group has been established in order to bring the highest benefit of composite materials to our members. As part of this, JEC Group offers all Summit delegates free admission to JEC World Paris.

High ranked speakers

High ranked speakers to present at the event come from China, Japan, USA, and Europe. Attendees are managers of CEO and CTO level in leading companies, engineers, scientists, and professionals from throughout the advanced materials and processes industry and universities.

“The conference programme addresses M&P developments and issues for a broad range of markets. High level speakers from renown companies and institutes in Europe, Asia and the US will present latest technology developments and market trends. During the Summit, there is ample opportunity for the exchange of ideas and making new acquaintances during the coffee breaks, lunch and dinner,” commented Jyrki Vuorinen, President, SAMPE Europe.

The conference day starts early in the morning in the Rooftop restaurant of the Pullman. “It is an outstanding occasion for networking with interesting colleagues and meeting new contacts,” organisers report. The conference is open for all those interested in the different fields of advanced materials. Both members and non-members of SAMPE, as well as students, are invited to participate.

Programme

As part of the session, dedicated to automotive applications, Warden Schijve, Chief Scientist Composites, SABIC, The Netherlands, will present on the topic of New thermoplastic composite solutions for automotive lightweighting. Prof Dr-Ing Frank Henning, Fraunhofer Institut Chemische Technologie, ICT & Karlsruher Institut für Technologie KIT, Germany, will discuss Advanced manufacturing of structural thermoset composites for automotive as part of the Advanced Manufacturing session.

Talking about advanced materials, Daniel Pichler, Joint Managing Director, Carb Consult, Germany, will present on the topic of Consolidation and Maturing of the Carbon Fiber Industry: What is Happening? Who Will Survive? As part of the Aerospace session, Luciana Selmi Marques, Composite R&D - Project Manager, EMBRAER, Brazil, will discuss Composite R&D challenges for EMBRAER aerostructures.

SAMPE

SAMPE is a global organisation devoted to the promotion of technical excellence in materials and process engineering, totalling around 15,000 engineers, technologists and materials scientists. It was founded in 1944 by Californian aerospace engineers with the goal to build a professional network and improve the exchange of technical information. Since then, SAMPE has spread all over the world and is now divided in around 40 chapters.

SAMPE Europe has been formed to become an association of persons of like interests in the field of material and process engineering for all types of advanced materials in all markets. Aerospace, automotive, energy and offshore industry have been the main targets in the last decade.

In Europe, the organisation has activities in more than 25 countries, organised predominantly in national associations like those of France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Russia, and sometimes also in international groups like Benelux, UK and Eire, and Scandinavia.
