Westex by Milliken has won a 2018 Readers’ Choice Award for best protective fabrics, presented by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine. Nearly 1,200 Canadian industry professionals voted in the awards programme, in which Westex by Milliken was chosen as one of the top three out of 13 companies vying for the best protective fabrics category.

“It is an honour to have the Canadian industry choose Westex by Milliken as one of the best manufacturers of flame-resistant (FR) fabrics,” said Steve Layton, vice president of Westex by Milliken. “We take great pride and responsibility in providing innovative FR fabric to make everyday FR apparel a simple and desired solution to unexpected arc flash and flash fire hazards — we stake our reputation on it. This esteemed recognition reaffirms our commitment to bringing innovative FR apparel to market, enabling our customers to focus on their specific tasks at hand.”

Westex by Milliken leverages more than 60 years of experience for a portfolio of over 60 styles of AR/FR fabrics for effective everyday personal protective equipment. Its award-winning fabrics are designed to combine market-proven FR protection with stretch, breathability, moisture wicking and other desired comfort qualities, which make FR apparel attractive for daily wear. In addition, all Westex branded fabrics pass third-party certifications as supporting evidence for performance, the company says.

The Canadian Occupational Safety Readers’ Choice Award marks the third award given to Westex by Milliken in 2018. Earlier this year, the company also won EC&M magazine Product of the Year for safety equipment and workwear, and ISHN magazine’s Readers’ Choice for arc flash/flame resistant apparel.

Westex by Milliken is a Milliken & Company business. Millions of garments made with Westex brand FR fabrics are in service in the utility, electrical maintenance, oil and gas, and metals industries.
